Property tax liability – buying condo?

If I understand correctly, I am selling my home in July and I will be liable for pro-rated property taxes through the month based on my last year’s tax bill. (Wisconsin)

My question is: If I am buying a condo in July, from the developer, is he/she responsible for the same property taxes on the new condo? In other words, is the seller of property liable for the taxes until the time of sale?

Also, is this all handled at the closing??

Quebec Joint Mortgage – What are the laws between my GF and I?

Hello,
I am currently involved in the purchase of a new condo in Quebec with my GF. We both have very different financial situations but have come to an agreement on our mortgage budget etc. The thing I’m wondering is if there are laws to protect each of our initial investments. By this I mean, if we ever sell or split up and sell, by law, do we each get our initial down-payments back. And what happens in the event of profit on a sale? If I put a 40% down-payment and she puts only 4%, does that mean I would get 86% of the profits? (50% +36% difference between us). Do laws exist to protect me or do I have to see a lawyer or notary to write up a document for us?

IT is that simple. IF what you put down is not contradicted by her, then you have
an agreement and when the condo has a purchase contract on it, you would take that agreement to a TITLE company [or someone who handles the closing papers for the condo] and they would
do the math and REMIT to each of you what your contract states you get.

YOU may ask for anything; there is no law covering what you can get.
There are laws for transfer fees and taxes; whether due at closing or at the end/beginning
of the next year……..

Do I have to pay rent on a property that is in foreclosure / short sale?

I have lived in 2 condos in the same neighborhood and both of them are in foreclosure! The first unit the owner did not want to give me back the deposit and would not return any of my calls. I then stopped paying her rent and have not heard from her since. We moved out because we recieved court documents that the bank was giving the property back to the owner. So I move, I have to pay another deposit and I go with a real estate agent assuming I would be safe from a foreclosure. I explained to them my situation with the previous landlord and told them that I did not want to have to deal with another foreclosure, (being that the bank can kick you out with a 48 hour notice) So after living in the new condo for 2 weeks (AT A HIGHER RENT RATE BY THE WAY) I get served papers that the property is in foreclosure. I call the real estate agent and they tell me its a short sale. STILL WHY IS THE CURRENT OWNER POCKETING MY RENT MONEY!? I am beyond irrate, I told them I did not feel comfertable throwing away my money and until the situation was handled I would not pay them rent. They said that if that was the case they would evict me. Can they do this and what rights do I have? Moving is not cheap and it is a hassle! I am tiered of people taking my money and leaving me stuck with moving expenses!

No one is taking your money, you have no legal right to live in the property and not pay rent. This is you trying to steal the landlords money, not the other way around. They can evict you, and of course collect what you are trying to steal and the legal costs.
